The Pharmacokinetics of Inhalation Anaesthetics: Clinical Applications.
The intensity and duration of drug effects, including those of anaesthetic agents, may be predicted if the site of action, potency, and methods of uptake, distribution and elimination of these substances in the body are understood. Reliable information on the first two points may be generally available and provided from animal experimentation or clinical study. The methods by which the patient ...
متن کاملPharmacokinetics of inhaled anaesthetics in a clinical setting: comparison of desflurane, isoflurane and sevoflurane.
The pharmacokinetic characteristics of desflurane, isoflurane and sevoflurane (16 patients for each anaesthetic) were estimated from measurements of inspired and end-expired agent concentrations and ventilation, obtained during routine anaesthesia in patients undergoing maxillofacial surgery (mean age 38 yr, duration of anaesthesia approximately 2 h). A two-compartment model described the data ...
متن کاملA comparison of local anaesthetics for venepuncture.
AIM To compare the effectiveness of EMLA cream and Ametop gel in providing analgesia for venous cannulation. METHODS Single blind study in 120 children. RESULTS Both anaesthetic agents produced adequate analgesia. However, Ametop gel was more effective, with a statistically significant difference in the pain scores of the two groups (p < 0.05).

Against acetylcholine induced auricular fibrillation U·0045 showed maximum activity and U -0172, U·OI77, U-OS75 and Lignocaine were more active than quinidine. In aconitine induced fibrillation li.OI77,...
متن کاملPeriodic Classification of Local Anaesthetics (Procaine Analogues)
Algorithms for classification are proposed based on criteria (information entropy and its production). The feasibility of replacing a given anaesthetic by similar ones in the composition of a complex drug is studied. Some local anaesthetics currently in use are classified using characteristic chemical properties of different portions of their molecules. Many classification algorithms are based ...
